The next obstacle. I'm turning now to challenges in research. As you know, UW Madison is a research powerhouse, and our discoveries are changing lives in Wisconsin and around the world. In overall research expenditures, we rank number eight nationally, and this is very strong, but it's also down from number four 10 years ago. Now, I'm a competitive person, so I have to say I see UCLA there, and it would be nice to leapfrog them. Though that is not the main reason I want to address this important issue. (27:30–27:41)
