I was working on it as Attorney General back in the 1990s and he and I have been working together to expand background checks to unlicensed sales, I.e. sales by people who are not licensed gun dealers. Right now the Background checks apply if you go into a gun store where the owner is licensed, but the private sales at gun shows or other kinds of ways are not covered by these background checks. We'd expand the background check coverage. Very important. It was not done in the Safer Communities act that we managed to pass a few years ago. There were other reforms that did pass.
