It has lifted literally tens of millions out of poverty, saved people from death. This is a great program, but it is not on a sustainable path. And so I have introduced a number of pieces of legislation in Congress to fix Social Security, make sure it is sustained over time. These solutions do not have to call for radical reductions of benefits, which would be the case if we did nothing. And so that's the reality of Social Security. (44:39–44:48)
