So to understand the backlog, because some people have confused this issue, There was a backlog of cases in the intake section. So it's about 14,000 cases that had not yet been accepted and put into the courts. So on any average year, the DA's office screens about 30,000 cases. About 30,000 roughly are presented to the DA's office in an average year. (20:19–20:30)
