In fact, most Iowans already pay wealth taxes. They're called property taxes. Either if you own your own home, you pay your property taxes, or if you rent, you pay somebody else's property tax. With that wealth tax, what we can do is expand Medicare to make sure that it includes dental, vision and hearing. We can make investments in our infrastructure, in our education system. We can make sure that childcare does not cost more than 7% of a person's income. (20:13–20:20)
