So you talk about election interference. This is nothing new. This is a situation that's gone on ever since there have been elections. One of the very first CIA operations in 1948 was a massive effort to interfere in the first major election held in Europe. That was in Italy. We were terrified that the Communist Party, which had gained a lot of prestige during the Second World War as partisans, might win the election and we'd have an legal Communist Party government or a government with communists in it.
