I was a president of that organization when I was a gas station owner and then ultimately led me to the board of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber. But I realized early on, Elected officials were making choices, were voting on things that impacted my family, my business, my employees, my roads, and on and on. I better pay attention. So it really lit a fire under me in terms of advocacy. So entrepreneurs fascinate me, and they fascinate me. (10:21–10:30)
