Some of us may not remember, but about the time my mother was teaching school, we did not have the same federal Department of Education intrusion that we have today. The federal Department of Education was implemented in 1979. today. It went from a statistical service employing a thousand people in 1979. Jimmy Carter yet again came in and grew government and grew fema. (47:30–47:34)
