The education funding system has been a problem since I was first elected in 2003, and it's time to take some of the recommendations out of those 38 studies and actually do something. Average Vermonters can no longer afford their property taxes. And There are also some problems with the rebate systems where people who own multimillion dollar homes and have huge income that they don't have to declare as income, and they get rebates on their properties. And it's time to make a more equitable system so that average Vermonters don't have to move out of state or lose their home because they can't afford property taxes. (05:54–06:09)
