And that means creating an affirming and welcoming community, because building such a community in classrooms and schools results in emotional safety, the bare minimum requirement for every student, every single spot in this state. Building a welcoming and safe community, one that fosters a sense of belonging and where every child feels safe, is challenging and meaningful work.
