And despite what critics say, this year, the NYPD did not experience an unexpected or extreme wave of departures. Retirements were exactly as we projected at the beginning of the year. Resignations before pension eligibility are down more than 40% since 2022. And in 2025, we outpaced attrition by more than 800 officers. Our officers are the ones doing this work on the streets.
