To prepare for this bill, my office has compiled statistics and data from universities across Texas about tenure. That tenure has been granted in the last five years, and the numbers do not lie. Members. At UTRGV, 42% of faculty is Hispanic, but of all the faculty granted tenure, only 27% were Hispanic and 4% were black. At UTEP, my institution, one of them, 40% of the faculty is Hispanic. But of all the faculty granted tenure, only 18% were Hispanic and 3% were black. (01:51–02:04)
