Members. At UTRGV, 42% of faculty is Hispanic, but of all the faculty granted tenure, only 27% were Hispanic and 4% were black. At UTEP, 40% of the faculty is Hispanic. But of all the faculty granted tenure, only 18% were Hispanic and 3% were black. This may sound high, but these institutions are on the border where the Hispanic population is 80 to 90%.
