And the Hate Crime Statistics act, which predated my coming to Congress, basically was, I don't want very important, but it asked local units of. Of law enforcement to collect statistics on hate crimes against people on The Hate Crime Statistics Act added sexual orientation and gender identity to what we were asking [law enforcement] to collect. and it was voluntary collection of data.
