The landless bill's historic progress. This Congress is a product of his tireless spirit and the hard work of a bipartisan group of Alaskans, including one of our witnesses, Tashi Richard Reinhardt. Most recently, the bill received an endorsement from the Wilderness Society, an important recognition by a leading environmental group that there is nothing more pro environment than Alaska native stewardship of Alaska native lands. Additionally, the United States Forest Service, the current manager of the land that this bill would transfer, has expressed their desire to address this longstanding inequity in their testimony for today's hearing.
