As a taxpayer and certainly as a parent, every single child deserves a high quality public education. And what we have with the statewide expansion is essentially a program that has subsidized the private choices of wealthy parents. The vast majority of students in the statewide expansion were already in private school at their parents' expense before taxpayers started picking up the tab. I believe that public dollars belong in public schools. And if you take even $1 of public money, you need to be subject to accountability. (40:01–40:10)
