Whereas in the United States we actually have a much stronger track record than Europe does of both assimilation of immigrants and of public support for immigration. This is a very easily elided fact these days given the politics. But in fact, Americans like immigration and what they don't like is when 5 million people cross the border in the space of 12 months with no process or documentation.
