In 2021, I created the KSP Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Team to better investigate and prosecute sexual assault cases. We were able to do this after the United States Department of justice awarded a 1.5 million dollar grant. Since its creation, KSP has received more than 4.8 million dollars to support this work, including a 2.5 million dollar grant in 2023. Every single Kentuckian that is impacted by crime deserves closure. This grant funding has helped us achieve some of that closure, achieving significant breakthroughs in a series of sexual assault cases. (29:01–29:10)
