At that point, our troops who signed up, they volunteered for a mission that they know might be dangerous. And yes, we. We should deploy them in those circumstances. But When we use troops foolishly, as we often have during my lifetime in Vietnam and in Iraq, where they served bravely, but in a way, they were betrayed by poor civilian decision making. that is the cardinal form of disrespect to our troops. And the way we use them in the right way is by having this kind of a debate about whether emissions in the national interest before we send them in to risk their lives. (05:21–05:36)
