Solar is now the dominant renewable energy source in Wisconsin, and new utility scale solar projects are often coupled with battery energy storage systems because improvements in storage duration mean excess capacity can be stored during peak production and dispatched during peak demand. Solar and battery storage enhancements are a great example of how technological innovations within the energy industry provide solutions to our complex problems here. Specifically, the challenges of cost, the intermittent nature of renewable resources, grid reliability and integration, and mitigating environmental impact on are all positively addressed by solar and battery storage innovations and the subsequent build out of these facilities in Wisconsin.
