Since January, the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental affairs has been investigating serious allegations of mismanagement, misconduct, whistleblower retaliation, and tragically, veteran deaths at toma. Here's a partial list of what we have learned during our investigation. In November 2007, a veteran named Craig Farrington died from a lethal mixture of seven different drugs shortly after receiving treatment at TOMA. In April 2009, the TOMA VA Employee Union raised concerns about a doctor nicknamed Candyman and referred to the facility as Candy Land because veterans were prescribed, quote, unquote, prescribed large quantities of narcotics.
