So in the Assembly, I've supported Governor Ever's agenda to invest more in our schools and mental health services for our young people and to use part of the state surplus to do so. I do not support using public money to pay for these private voucher schools. We must increase funding for special education, too. And despite Democratic efforts, the reimbursement to our local schools for special education is about 30%, which creates significant budget challenges for the districts, and it pits worthwhile programs against each other.
