The UW system is an economic generator for our state. We need to invest in our UW system in order to support more students to come here and stay here in Wisconsin. For every dollar one that the UW system that we invest in it, we get a $27 return on that $1. That makes smart sense. Fiscally cutting the funding for a program that earns $27 return, that doesn't make any sense. So we need a brain trust to stay here in our state to contribute to our economy. (53:44–53:53)
