And this is a priority for me as I've met with fire chiefs from across the district and our Larimer and Douglas county commissioners. But let's be clear. We have a bloated bureaucracy and spending does not equate to better outcomes. Decades of poor forest management... and an emphasis on funding for suppression as opposed to active management is something that I've advocated for for years. And this is what's caused this crisis because we haven't had that active management in the past. I was proud to co sponsor and vote for the Fix Our Forest act. (34:36–34:52)
