The Chafey program allows states to provide a range of programs to support foster youth, but states have been returning these funds to the federal government for nearly two decades. Oklahoma returned over $145,000 in 2018. Despite the need for the support from foster youth, the reforms made by this package of bills we are marking up today will allow states to better utilize these funds and better successfully help foster youth gain self sufficiency as they enter into adulthood.
