It's called checks and balances. Checks and balances operate in every level of government. It applies to statewide elected officials. It applies to your local judges who are elected. There's only one elected officer for whom there is no check or balance, and that is district attorneys. Every statewide officer, every legislator, every district judge, they're subject to impeachment. The only elected official I'm aware of who is not subject to impeachment is a district attorney.
