If there were no spending increases, your property taxes would never go up. The problem is this. At the state level, we use things like increasing the homestead exemption to lower your property taxes. But The state itself does not impose a property tax. Only local taxing jurisdictions impose a property tax. So we have to use these second derivative methods to try to reduce your property taxes.
