We announced a number of years ago when we launched the campaign for Proposition 1, the $6.38 billion bond, that the community vision was never realized. So much so that We went from 37,000 at peak in 1957 down to about 5,500 psychiatric beds about the time we launched in March of 2024. at least election day of March of 2024. We celebrated the success of Proposition 1, the commitment now to rebuild, to address the decade long gap in terms of fulfilling the promise for community based alternatives to those psychiatric beds.
