Interestingly, both major studies that were conducted to determine whether employees really were more efficient or less efficient. During the COVID 19 shutdowns and the rise of remote work, both found that they most certainly were were less efficient. The IZA Institute of Labor Economics put out in May of 2021 a study entitled Work from Home and Productivity Evidence from Personnel and Analytics Data on IT Professionals. Here's the abstract.
