A heat pump is a device which takes the heat that's in the ground only about 50, 60ft down, maybe even not that far, and brings it up. In the summertime, it's air conditioning because the ambient temperatures are about 55 degrees, and so it cools the house in the wintertime with a little bit of electrical energy. (18:36–18:47)
