Chicago spent more than $250 million on police over time in 2025, and that is more than two and a half times what was budgeted. Why so much police overtime? Well, here is a couple of things. One of the reasons why In this budget, we put the overtime budget at 200 million. is just to ensure that we're actually proposing an overtime expenditure that is more reflective of what has happened.
