When I was a city council member, Jumadi Williams and I passed the Community Safety Act. This was at the height of stop and frisk. And we then saw Stop and frisk came down dramatically at the same time that shootings and murders and violence were coming down dramatically. So when you get that trust restored, you can have communities that are safer, that people are part of producing that safety in partnership with the police and see neighborhoods that both feel safer and are safer.
