And what I have heard from rank and file police officers, as well as from police officers higher up, is a frustration with how we have asked the police department to respond to nearly every failure of the social safety net. We have tasked officers who signed up to take on serious crime to instead respond to 200,000 mental health calls a year. And I believe that we need to allow police officers to take on those serious crimes.
