And if there's any doubt on that truth, we need only look to the painful reality faced each and every single day by the women and girls who still reside in Haiti today. Haitian women and girls are living through conditions so dire that they are difficult to put into words. Widespread sexual and gender based violence, mass displacement, near total exclusion from political power, and the atrocities go on and on.
