“Following my last visit, I sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, an acting director of U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement, Todd Lyons, detailing my deep concerns about the inhumane conditions within the center. Demanding answers and independent oversight, I requested a response by June 23 and did not hear back until the very last day of July.
