I had an amendment that passed out of committee, out of my district, DHS Subcommittee for appropriations, protecting U.S. citizens. It was a really clear, easy amendment to pass. Basically, We prohibit ICE from detaining and deporting US Citizens. Passed out of committee, made it into the final bill. During negotiations, the negotiators told me that Stephen Miller wanted that amendment out. Why would the White House not want to protect US Citizens? (07:29–07:35)
