Our classrooms, our curriculum, our education should start with the family, should start with our community, not from DC. And the Department of Education has not been a part of the solution. They're part of the problem. We've had underpaid teachers for a generation and the DOE has not solved that problem yet. It's about time. Instead of pouring money into federal Doe bureaucracy, we bring it back to our local communities where they can actually have a bigger impact on our communities education. (58:45–58:50)
