Medicaid, or Husky as we know it in Connecticut, is a lifeline for children, for people with disabilities, for low wage workers and seniors. It's not an exaggeration to say these cuts to Medicaid will cost people their health and their lives. This bill does nothing to extend the affordable health of the Affordable Care act subsidies taking affordable health care away from almost 13,000 people in our Congressional district who purchase their health coverage on Access Health Connecticut as premiums could be increased by 25%. This will completely be unaffordable to people, lead to many deciding they cannot afford to be insured. In total, it could lead to 16 million Americans losing their health coverage and nearly 40,000 in the third congressional district. (07:03–07:25)
