Finally, I'm proud to sign Senate Bill 436, Legislation Strengthening Florida's law by ensuring repeat violent offenders face tougher consequences for their action. Right now, A second battery offense can be elevated to a felony if the offender has certain prior battery related convictions. This bill adds a prior conviction for resisting an officer with violence to that list of preexisting offenses. And so now those individuals will be held accountable in a more significant way.
