And my concern is about the national response to these natural disasters, not just in California, but in all of those states, red and blue, where cuts in FEMA funding are crippling the resilience and robustness of the federal response in those areas. In April 2025, FEMA sought to cancel funding for building resilient infrastructure in Communities, the BRIC program. which helps communities future proof for natural disasters. More recently, FEMA slashed the reimbursements it provides to fire departments when they send vehicles to help fight fires outside their jurisdiction, the type of mutual aid operations that are essential to fighting fires.
