For over a century, there was a local gathering spot somewhere to get a coffee or sandwich, catch up with your neighbors, get your news and maybe a little gossip as well. So when they were about to lose it, Residents formed a trust to purchase the building and keep this local hub [East Calais general store] alive. Nearly five years later, through pandemic and floods, the East Kalais General Store reopened its doors in October. Many of these projects have benefited from government funding, and that's an important role we can play. (49:02–49:08)
