Published | Video Starts at 02:15

I was born in South Korea, and I've been growing up hearing horrific stories of the brutality and oppression in North Korea. As one of the first korean american women ever got elected to the United States Congress, I am very proud to represent 50,000 Korean Americans living in Southern California. Many of my constituents are first generations like me. It's not just Korean Americans, but I have vietnamese american, 16.7% vietnamese american community in my district, and they fled from communism too. (02:15–02:23)
