But for a long time, the legislature in Wisconsin had gerrymandered maps giving the Republicans what looked like a permanent majority in both the state assembly and the state Senate. Fortunately, Thanks to the work of Governor Evers and strong Democratic leaders in the assembly and Senate, they were able to get fair maps in the state after the Supreme Court threatened intervening. Now, those leaders ran with the new maps in the assembly where they were down 15 seats and and they picked up 10 in one cycle alone, leaving only five left to get the majority. (00:38–00:49)
