So I come from a Coast Guard family. We have very proud auntie of two coasties and it is critical for the district that I represent in Michigan. We're literally surrounded by coast. The Great Lake region has a $6 trillion regional economy, affects millions of Americans, holds 90% of the United States fresh water and directly supports over a million jobs. But here's the thing. It gets really cold in the wintertime. I know you know this. And the Great Lakes freeze over which hurts our commerce, hurts maritime activity. (00:45–00:59)
