This bill would have been a disaster for our state had it passed. We would have taken an estimated $500 million surplus and turned it into a $2.9 billion deficit at the end of the next budget. Guess what we would have to cut if we had a $2.9 billion deficit? Literally everything we care about. Public education, healthcare, Medicaid, food assistance. Right. Everything important.
