When Pennsylvania had the unfortunate distinction of being one of only two states in the entire nation that didn't fund indigent defense, didn't fund public defenders at the state level, you know what we did? We came together, Democrats and Republicans and the like, and invested in indigent defense. And by the way, at the same time, passed some of the most sweeping criminal justice reform bills in the history of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. We did that together. (48:06–48:12)
