By 2051, in four people on the planet will be african, making the continent home to an enormous economic and manufacturing potential. However, currently, chinese companies operate near monopolies in a litany of critical sectors while committing flagrant human rights violations. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country with over two thirds of the world's cobalt deposits, CCP linked companies own 15 of the 19 cobalt producing mines. This provides Beijing with control over a supply chain crucial for our economic and national security. Ensuring that chinese companies do not monopolize these markets and encouraging and incentivize two way us trade and investment with Africa is a key priority of mine. (04:42–04:53)
