In France they have the beaches or they're near Montpelier. In Australia, they have some spots in the Barossa that are old river sands. And they can preserve their collections there. But They can't grow grapes outside of those small areas without the use of American specie phlox resistant rootstocks. So hopefully this isn't getting too deep in the weeds for you folks.
