There are so many people that contribute so much to making our economy run, but the folks that we called essential workers during this pandemic, but who were never given the essential protections that they need. When I started out as a young organizer, The demand that we were making on behalf of construction workers were organizing alongside was just the right to a water break. And we asked and pushed some big companies to guarantee workers water breaks in the 110 degree Texas sun. (06:42–06:50)
