From Alabama to Florida, from Louisiana to Mississippi to Tennessee, Republican legislators have put forth new Jim Crow maps that seek to silence our communities. In my own state of Texas, Republicans eliminated multiple Opportunity Districts for Texans of color and including dismantling the Hispanic Opportunity district. I currently represent the rights that black Americans and civil rights marchers of all backgrounds, that they fought for, that they bled for and even died for, are being destroyed before our very eyes.
